This is what I needed for my Sunday morning. Juan Epstein teamed up with the legendary Mister Cee for a four hour tribute of nothing but the Black Frank White’s greatest that they did on the 10th anniversary of his death, and it finally sees the light of day. For the past few weeks, Terrace Martin has been releasing musical instrumentals that he's recorded with the likes of DJ Quik, Focus of Aftermath Entertainment and the legendary Pete Rock. Now it's time to break out the new songs! For this new cut that he produces and raps on, Terrace is joined by West Coast young rhyme-spitters Problem and Mykestro. The premise of this song is that they are all being interviewed by a young female reporter.

Another special edition Jazz x Hip-Hop instrumental from Terrace Martin. This week’s selection is produced by the Chocolate Boy Wonder. Hit the jump for some words from Terrace.

“Pete Rock has been one of my all time favorite producers in the world – one of the major influences in my life. I am in the middle of doing a jazz record right now with Hip-Hop producers. I’ve worked with Hi-Tek, DJ Quik, and a lot of other fellow producers. I got this record from Pete Rock through Power 106 FM radio personality Fuzzy Fantabulous (from Big Boy’s Neighborhood Show). Fuzzy is the executive producer for this album and he got at Pete Rock about the situation and Pete ended up sending him 3 records. The other 2 Pete Rock songs you will have to hear on the album but I’m giving you this one for free. I just want to feed the Earth good music and I hope that everybody likes it and enjoys it.”

JAY-Z - ROC BOYS (YBP REMIX)

DOWNLOAD JAY-Z - ROC BOYS (YBP REMIX) HERE

I know a million and one people have remixed this already, but when I first dug up this sample, it just made me instantly think of this song. I also threw together a video for it as well (I'm no super-video producer or anything, but it'll do)

I haven't been posting much new stuff lately because I'm working on two little projects which I'll have to keep mostly under wraps until they're released.

Firstly, an EP with DJ Speek Greene aka. Food Witherspoon, which hopefully we'll be able to wrap up before the end of the year. If he uses the beats I think he's gonna use, it should come out real nice

Also, I'm trying to wrap up B's Mellow Grooves EP, which will be a combination of smooth deep house tracks and more laidback soulful instrumentals. Again, I'm hoping to get that out by the end of the year as well, and it'll probably just end up being released on the internet.

Don't Forget B's Remixes Vol. 1, FREE DOWNLOAD HERE

If you're still wondering why there's a significant lack of playlists the last 6 months or so, it's because I'm trying to blog just about everyday on my blogspot page. I try to put the latest music, videos and just random stuff I'm checking out.

I just also wanted to say thankyou to all the different websites/blogs that posted the Random track I produced called "Exhale" which you can still download here. If you still haven't checkout out Random's "8th Day", but sure you put it at the top of your to do list or whatever.

So yeah, until next time......B

KRS-One, Talib Kweli & Buckshot Rap City Freestyle!

This is rather dope

M.J. (Wizards) > Jay-Z circa 2008

I DID NOT PERSONALLY WRITE THIS. I saw this blog on XXLMAG.COM and wanted to know what you all thought. AGAIN, I DID NOT WRITE THIS!

"Remember how Hov used to refer to himself as the “Mike Jordan of rap?”

Around the time The Black Album dropped, I remember Hov saying he retired because he wanted to go out on top. One of the reasons he cited was that he was a big Michael Jordan fan and was disappointed when Mike came back with the Wizards. Let’s face it, Mike is still the G.O.A.T. There’s no way dude would have let anybody handcuff him for an entire series like Kobe did. But, that brief stint with the Wizards definitely tarnished his legacy. Basically, we wish Mike hadn’t come back. We were content with his six rings, five league MVPs, six final MVPs, ten scoring titles and countless jaw-dropping highlights. And we were content that Mike ended his career in classic air fashion with a clutch jumper to put the Utah Jazz away.

Well, you know what? I’m starting to wish Hov hadn’t come back. Dude can’t even run with the to dudes no more. I mean, listen to “Swag Like Us” and tell me any different. Matching up Jay with three of the dopest MCs in hip-hop, the song just exposes him for being a deteriorated MC. His lyrics actually haven’t been too atrocious, but the main thing Hov lost during his three-year retirement is the “it” factor. He’s just not that dude anymore. Listen to “Ignorant Shit” off American Gangster, a song he recorded during The Black Album era. Off course, AG had a few good joints on there, but his vocal performance on “Ignorant Shit” is just superior. It’s the way he pronounces words, the cadence, the swag, everything. It sounds easy. It’s just effortless. Cool, he had a few cute lines on Jeezy’s “Put On” remix, but don’t tell me that delivery was effortless. The God Emc..I mean MAN is flowing on crutches nowadays.

So much for him being disappointed in Mike. Hov, we’re disappointed in you. At least those of us who aren’t giving him a pass just because he’s Jay-Z. His addiction to the spotlight is apparently grave enough that he’s willing to tarnish your legacy by barely keeping up with rappers who idolized him in his prime. I wish Dame Dash was still around. He wouldn’t have let him put out all that mediocre stuff. We were fine with The Black Album being the last album. We could always go back to listening to Reasonable Doubt, the In My Lifetime series and the first Blueprint. A third Blueprint installment just isn’t necessary. And if “Jocking Jay-Z” is any indication of things to come, the music isn’t getting any better.

At this point, Jay has damaged his legacy worse than MJ. I still enjoyed Mike contend for the MVP in his last All-Star game, but I don’t like Jay embarrassing himself with every new verse. Hopefully, he’ll read this, take a page from MJ’s book and cook up a classic album to shut me and other skeptics up.
"

We Here is a celebration of waking up every day. Why not live out your dreams, why not try? Of the lyric ‘Let’s go crazy/ You saw Purple Rain’ Illa J explains: “It’s like Prince asking ‘Are we gonna let the elevator break us down?’ Naw, let’s go all out! One of the things I learned from my brother is that you don’t get that much time, so make the most of it. That’s why I’ve decided to dedicate my life to doing what I love: music. - Illa J

Busta Rhymes - Packin' Them Things (prod. by Kev Brown)

Now for those who thought Busta Rhymes has gone soft these days, allow me to prove to y'all that this track proves y'all WRONG. Busta Rhymes shows that he still "RRRRAAAAOW RRRRAAAAOW" like the dungeon dragon over the beat provided by none other than Kev Brown. Brown really went vintage with his tinkling pianos and dragging organs in his beats, which goes perfect with Busta's CLASSIC rhymes. It's like he went back to his "Whoo-Hah" crazy roots! Hopefully, he'll keep that up.
